On any given night in Ithaca, New York, live music is never too far away. Whether it be an acoustic set at the Bernie Milton Pavilion, a touring band at the historic State Theater, local groups jamming at Porchfest or the town’s annual Grassroots Music Festival, there is no shortage of local music events to explore.

When I moved to Ithaca to attend college in 2017, I quickly grew to appreciate the small town’s commitment to the arts and local musicians. Some of my favorite college memories involve watching my peers perform at The Haunt, connecting with new musicians at Porchfest and performing with my own band at The Dock.

Despite having a population of only 30,000 people, Ithaca has one of the most vibrant music scenes in Upstate New York. While it isn’t a paramount tour destination like New York City, Boston or Los Angeles, touring artists still often take the time to make a stop in the ‘gorges’ town.
